I recently was invited to attend a party celebrating the signing of a young man to the LSU baseball team at The Hangout. It'd been years since I'd been to Maurepas and last I heard this bar had been closed so I was surprise that it'd been re-opened and quite curious. So my buddy and I took the sceneic drive from Baton Rouge to Maurepas to see what it was all about. If you've never driven out to the Livingston area near Diversion Canal, Amite and Lake Maurepas I highly suggest it. Very beautiful winding roads and scenic views.
The Hangout is really a new bar even though many of us from Livingston and Ascension remember it being a bar for a long time. The owners have completely gutted and rebuilt the place into a nice comfortable bar with new everything. A long beautiful bar, a cozy outside patio, lots of televisions and one of my favorite features: no smoking inside. It's really a nice place.
It is a sports bar and they feature your standard issue beer selection in bottles, a full bar and a variety of standard sports bar food.(chicken wings, etc) One very cool thing I found out they do is free supper on Thursday nights which is always some fantastic Louisiana style food like duck gumbo for instance. Live music on weekends with no cover and good times. We spent about 6 hours their on a Saturday evening/night and had a great time.
They have a website with some pictures and information including a link to Facebook where you can see what's going on. The Hangout Sports Bar
