Highland Coffees opened in 1989 at the historic North Gates of LSU. Located just off the corner of Highland and Chimes; they bring in outstanding green coffee from around the world and roast it right in the shop. Once roasted it goes to the retail shelf to be sold by the pound or it is used to make all of their coffee drinks. Fresh, quality coffee is aromatic and flavorful. A very large selection of coffee drinks, including brewed coffees, lattes, mochas, granitas, and frozen blended drinks. For tea drinkers, over twenty-five classic loose teas offered by the cup or by the bag to take home. Chai drinks and frozen fruit drinks are also popular. Pastries are made locally and delivered throughout the week. Some of the pastries are cheesecakes, Italian Cream Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Cake, cobblers, breads, croissants, and muffins. It's a big place so there's almost always a place to sit and they have a spacious courtyard to enjoy when the weather is nice. Wireless internet is available and free.

The customer base is made up of students, faculty, and staff of LSU, people who live nearby, and others around Baton Rouge who enjoy their coffee and tea. It should be noted that they were the first specialty coffee and tea shop in Baton Rouge and they've developed a huge base of regular frequent visitors.

Shop hours are: Monday --Friday 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM
