Oktoberfest for Louisiana moved to the Lamar Dixon Expo Center right outside of Baton Rouge a few years back. Since then it's been growing and gaining exposure. I notice more people talking about it every year. It's a true event held for three days every October. Traditional German food, beer, dancing, crafts and shows. It's a great time for the whole family. Lets not forget the main event though; The Largest German Beer Garden in the South. Who would miss that? I very much enjoyed the Oktoberfest held in Gonzales(metro Baton Rouge) and I've noticed that the demographic is in the 30 years old plus range. I was a bit suprised by this considering that younger people seem to enjoy heavy consumption more. This is probably because so much of the event is targeted towards the traditional values of the German festival. Check out their website link. They have a great website with lots of frequently updated information. |
