If you're looking for something considerably different for your Mardi Gras experience checking out this boat parade might be the way to go. It's a lot of celebration put together by the locals of Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston area. Held on the Amite River Diversion Canal it's a very fun time. You'll be suprised at the "boat floats" that people produce.

As of 2012 I don't know if this parade still exists.
